BEC-TV has 3 programs that have been nominated by the Upper Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (the "Emmy" people) for their Student Production Awards. The Crystal Pillar awards presented recognize excellence in media production for high School & college/university students.
We find out winners at a ceremony on Friday April 12.
Students & Educators from across the five state area will be attending the gala awards ceremony, but we're honored to have the event right in our own backyard at the Crowne Plaza AiRE in Bloomington.
All BEC staff & techs, as well as friends and family are invited to attend.
About the Selection Process
1) High Schools and Colleges in the five state area submit some of their best work for consideration.
2) A panel of video professionals reviews all submissions and decides which will get nominated to move forward.
3) A panel of judges scores each nomination on a set of technical & artistic standards.
From the nominated productions they can choose one or many winners for each category.
They could also decide that none of the entries in a certain category meet their tough criteria. (This in not uncommon)
BEC-TV shows that have been Nominated.
BEC-TV submitted three programs that represent some of our finest work.
We've very excited that all three passed the first set of judging and have been officially nominated for the Student Production Award Nomination from the Upper Midwest Emmy® Foundation.
HERE is a list of all the nominees in the high school category. (There is also a College category)
You'll find the three BEC-TV programs in this list.
They include one of our State Baseball games at Target Field, a Football game from this past fall, and an edition of our weekly "Inside Football" studio program.
We're ALL Winners!
We were required to list the student crew and adult advisors for each program, and they appear on published information on nominees.
As the focus on this is STUDENT productions, not all adult mentors who facilitated in a production may be listed on the crew.
While we are SUPER proud of each listed on those crews, we really want to underscore that we're considering this honor as a "win" for ALL our or student techs, adult mentors, and staff.
Each of you has helped build BEC-TV into the organization that produces some of the finest student-level productions in the country.
