Ensembles

Beginning Band (First Year)

The 6th grade band is for students who have never played a musical instrument before. Students will learn basic music theory and perform on the instrument that they select. Students may pick between Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, and Trombone. This class will meet daily. 

Intermediate Band (Second Year)

The 7th grade band is made up of mostly students who have a year of experience on their main instruments. Students will perform at all concerts throughout the year and play music that is appropriate for their grade level. This class will be a continuation of the 6th grade class. It is recommended that if you are a beginning 7th grader that you take private lessons to catch up to other students. This class will meet everyday. Students will have opportunities to join other ensembles. 

Advanced Band (Third Year)

The 8th grade band is made up of students who have 1 to 2 years of experience on their instruments. This class will be mostly focused on performing quality repertoire and preparing students for high school band class. This class will meet everyday. Students will have opportunities to join other ensembles. 

Jazz Band

Jazz band is an after school club that will meet two times a week on Wednesday and Friday.  This club is open to 7th and 8th graders who have at least a year of experience on their instrument. This group will perform at concerts throughout the year. 

Marching Band

Marching band is an activity that takes place during spring by the 7th and 8th graders. Students will participate in one to two parades. There will be a small number of after school rehearsals to learn the basics of marching and weekly music rehearsals in class leading up to the performances.
