The grading system followed at Whitford is standards based. Each assignment will fall under a specific standard and students will be evaluated on a scale of 1–4 based on how proficient they are in that specific standard. The academic band standards are as follows:
ALT 1 - Perform Music with Quality of Sound: I can perform music with quality sound.
AST 1.1 - Tone/Blend/Vowel:Tone/Blend/Vowel

ALT 2 - Technique: I can perform music with technique.

ALT 3 - Musicality: I can perform with musicality.

ALT 6 - Musical Literacy: I can demonstrate musical literacy.
AST 6.1 - Musical Notation : Read, interpret, and perform musical notation.
AST 6.2 - Musical Terminology : Demonstrate understanding and proper use of musical terminology, markings, etc.
Students will be graded separately on their behavior. These grades will follow the same process. There will be a set of behavior learning targets and assignments will align with one or multiple learning targets. Students will be given one of three letters to determine behavior grade. The three letters are C-Consistently, G-Generally, R-Rarely The Behavior learning targets are as follows:
