Bobcat Trail Club
Every Bonny Slope student can join the pack of runners or walkers before school on the Bonny Slope track on Mondays and Thursdays, from 7:55-8:20 am. Rewards are awarded for milestones as students accumulate their laps! We'll still have Bobcat Trail Club if it's raining—they'll do laps under the covered area near the playground instead. There is no need to sign up, just show up! Drop your kids at the front entrance and after they make their way to the track, they'll find a card with their name on it and start running or walking towards their Marathons.
Monday & Thursdays - 7:55 AM - 8:20 AM
You can use your Marathon Kids account to follow along with your students' progress. If you don't have a Marathon Kids account, contact Jacob Whitehead so he can generate a link for you to create an account.
If your student has completed a Marathon this year you may download the digital picture via the link below. The physical picture will be sent home at the end of the year with your student.
BSD Active Students
In the 2015-2016, Bonny Slope was one of the 3 Beaverton Elementary Schools to pilot being an Active School. Part of being an Active School is starting the day off with 10 minutes of brainboosts, which is movement to curated dances or exercise videos. Ask your students what the favorite brainboost is!
The teachers are also using quick brainboosts throughout the day when transitioning between subjects or when they see their students may having a hard time focusing. During assemblies and staff meetings the school participates in school wide brainboosts, as well as this being done at a district level during district meetings.
In 2016-2017, Beaverton School District created a culture of movement by becoming an Active Schools district, where all our elementary schools embraced what Bonny Slope, 2 other pilot schools, and research found to be very valuable for the learning of our students.
