NHS Eligibility and Application Process
Around mid-September, juniors who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or higher (as of the end of their sophomore year) and seniors who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or higher (as of the end of their junior year) will receive applications to the Beavercreek Chapter of the National Honor Society via their school gocreek email . Once students receive their applications there will be an informational meeting for all eligible students to discuss the application process.
Having met this first pillar of NHS, students will then be required to show evidence of service, leadership and character demonstrated during their high school years thus far. This packet will be due in late September or early October; the application will include the exact due date as it varies from year to year.
The Faculty Council then meets to determine final eligibility. All applicants will be notified of their status within two-three weeks of the application deadline.
Induction will be set for the fall, early November, ideally. The date will be determined at the beginning of the school year. All students who wish to be members of NHS must attend induction.
For additional information, please see the tab for Prospective Applicants at the top.
Students demonstrate their leadership skills by taking initiative for their interest in National Honor Society. It is for this reason we encourage students to seek answers to their questions about NHS.
Membership in National Honor Society is a privilege, not a right.
New to Beavercreek High School? Have you already been inducted to NHS at your previous school? Please see Mrs. Burcham (1024) or Mr. Bisignani (1040) as soon as possible. If you are currently a senior, you are still responsible for completing an individual service project prior to graduation to receive your Honor Cord and certificate!
Tutoring:
Tutoring will begin on the Tuesday after Labor Day. This year it is postponed until we feel that we can offer this safely. We will advertise this service if and when we are able to offer it this school year.
Every weekday morning at 7:30 to 8:00 in room #1026.
No appointment necessary. Students are encouraged to bring in work that presents a challenge or materials that they are studying and NHS tutors will be glad to assist.
Please note that there is no tutoring on 2 hour delay days and during semester and final exam weeks.
