Bright Ideas Grant Award - 2024
I’m Kimberly Guinn, the Theatre Director at Hilton Head Island High School since 2017. I’ve been teaching for 22 years and have spent the last 20 years immersed in theatre, and I still love it as much as I did when I first stepped into a rehearsal space. Theatre is where storytelling, creativity, and collaboration come alive, and I’m passionate about helping students grow in confidence, skill, and artistry through the work we do together. From our yearly, ever-expanding Haunted House each October to the three shows we perform and two end-of-the-semester concerts, I am always working to give our students greater opportunities to experience acting and technical theatre.
Outside of directing and teaching, I’m a huge fan of stage combat and ballroom dancing—both of which fuel my love of movement, timing, and physical storytelling onstage. As a director, I enjoy shaping productions from the ground up, building a strong ensemble, and guiding students through the process of turning ideas into memorable live performances.
