BCSD Science Fair

Overview

Welcome to the Beaufort County School District Science Fair! This event plays a vital role in helping students apply science concepts in real-world contexts, connecting classroom learning to hands-on investigation in a meaningful way for students to actively practice key science and engineering practices (SEPs) outlined in the 2021 South Carolina College and Career Ready (SC CCR) Science Standards. This process encourages students to think like scientists and engineers, fostering curiosity, creativity, and perseverance, preparing them for future academic and career success in STEM fields.

All students enrolled in advanced courses are expected to participate, while students in grade-level courses are encouraged to join as well. This inclusive approach supports deeper engagement with science for all learners. Please note that only students in grades 5 through 12 are eligible to compete in the Lowcountry Regional Science & Engineering Fair.

LOOKING BACK & CELEBRATING

2026 Lowcountry Regional Science & Engineering Fair Winners

The 2026 Lowcountry Regional Science and Engineering Fair saw an impressive participation from Beaufort County School District, with all eight middle schools actively engaging in this enriching scientific endeavor on March 5, 2026. The journey to the fair began in August 2025, marking the start of a months-long process of scientific inquiry and discovery for the district's middle school students.

The culmination of these efforts resulted in an outstanding performance at the regional fair. Beaufort County students received a total of 26 awards, a testament to the high caliber of their work. Among these accolades were four first-place awards and 10 special awards, demonstrating excellence across multiple scientific disciplines and their unique aspects or exceptional qualities in projects.
