In the Northeast region of North Carolina (including Beaufort and Pitt County), 84% of students graduate on time. Out of that 84%, only about 30% get a college degree.
While college isn't always necessary for success, it does give people higher chances of succeeding in life. At Washington High School, we want to provide students the opportunity to succeed and provide them with the tools to carve out the life they want, whether that's through enrolling in community college or university, finding a job out of high school or enlisting in the military.
Ms. Boyd, your Next Step Advisor
Ms. Boyd was just like you a few years ago - graduating from Southside High School with no clue what she wanted to do with her future.
Now, she's a well-known journalist in Michigan and a high school advisor back home in North Carolina thanks to her college degree - and she didn't have to pay a dime to get her education!
She wants the same for all of you - to see you succeed after high school, and to make your path towards success attainable and affordable.
Ms. Boyd is in Student Services Office A138, and she takes walk-ins as well as calls students down from class.
