This artifact has been very special to me due to how much time of my life it has taken up. I started pole vaulting when I was in 7th grade and have stuck with it and loved it since I started. Pole vault has given me so many opportunities to meet new people and compete with a group of people with a common goal in mind, like me. It has been so much fun and is not as scary as it looks, but instead way more fun. Some of the people I am most thankful I got to meet on the way have been Liston Seibert from Perry, Joey Smart from Hoover, and Caleb McClure from Green. These guys have given me competition and we mess with each other every time we see each other, but are also a group of people that are like brothers who will always help out and push me to be better than the day before. Track means so much to me, and the fact that I could letter two years in a row, after multiple injuries and complications in my first two years, means so much to me, and I couldn't do it without the people associated with this sport.
To be good at something, you cannot just expect it to happen and not put in the work for it. As I have done this middle school, I have taken action and put in the work to become a 2 year track letterer in pole vault. It has not become easy and required a lot of dedication and motivation, especially in the times that I lost motivation for the sport. I stuck with it, though, and have had a lot of fun and success in doing what I love with this sport. Because of my coaches, parents, teammates, and even those whom I am competing against, I have been put into a community of friendly and encouraging people who have given me a reason to enjoy what I do and strive to be better at it.
