Heifer was a remarkable experience that I feel so lucky to have been a part of. During this stimulation we wereplaced into different countries that had to trade with each other as we learned how to make dinner and spent the night out there. It was so cool to see the JAGS community come together and to work with people I don't usually. The most memorable part was when Mr. Knopick stomped a baby and turned Guatemala on us. He was in his role as an old man and someone in Guatemala gave him their baby and Knopick just "blacked out" and attempted to kick it before he stomped it to death. Past that though there were so many important things I learned both about the country I was in and about the people with me. Heifer is really unique because it puts you in a perspective you usually don't have a chance of seeing on your own and does such a great job at it. It truly is the backbone of JAGS.
This fits into recognizing perspective because you get to live in the world of someone who's daily life looks similar to this. It allowed me to understand the world deeper and more clearly than I had before.

One of the best projects I did freshman year was my Genius Projects. For this I made desserts from different countries. This was such an important assignment because it showed us how much one is able to learn and accomplish when they're focused on what they enjoy. By baking a dessert from each country I was able to learn about different cultures and the similarities and differences around places.
I was able to investigate and learn new information that I would remember in a way that kept me engaged and intrigued. I also got learned how to bake and gained skills that will help me in life and are still alicaple for years to come.
Community is one of the core values of JAGS. This made the Spanish familias all that more important. In Spanish 3, we were able to have a tight knit group we could rely and help motivate us. This class was especially useful as we spent a lot of time researching the different countries our families chose to move to. The time spent with my family gave me better skills to communicate and integrate myself into a team unit.
In Spanish, we are constantly communicating ideas and learning how to communicate with a broader range of people. I spent a lot of time learner Spanish and practicing vocabulary so I can more aptly communicate with the world

For Summit Night Freshman year, each group got a country or two to research and find an endangered species. i worked in a group of three so we got two countries, Nicaragua and Argentina. Then we researched the Short Tailed Chinchila. They suffer from destruction of their homes as humans ruin their homes in search of gold. They also are hunted for their fur.
In JAGS it's so important to communicate ideas and not only learn about teh issues that affect our world but talk to others and see to it that they also understand. We can't solve every problem alone so it's important that we know how to communicate.
To wrap up the Napoleon unit the class was given the assignment to answer questions about Napoleon and look at the choices he made and determine when things started going downhill for him.
This highlights the Investigating the World part of JAGS because it shows how we are taught to analyze and put oursleves into the perspective of others and to critique while also mantaining what is logical. This assignment shaped me because it was something I was proud to have written. It gave me confidence in my writing skills and made look forward to assignments like this.
