I've been a member of Future Generations Now Club since it was started at our school during the 2023-2024 school year. This year I was the head of PR for the club which meant that it was my responsibility to create the majority of the posters we used. The way this club relates to JAGS is how we take action in our community. This spring we decided to organize two cat yoga sessions at Luvih Yoga Studio. All tickets for the session went to 40 Corners Animal Shelter. This shelter provided the cats as well. During the event we were able to raise over $500 for 40 Corners Animal Shelter.
In JAGS one of our main priorities is to Take Action and help the community. In my mind nothing is more rewarding than being able to host an event that people came out to and enjoyed that also benefitted an animal shelter who deserves it. Not only did this have an effect on 40 Corners Animal Shelter but we also provided the community with a fun activity.

During my junior year I was able to be apart of the Spanish Lessons that the Spanish Honor Society does every year. Once a week after school we would teach elementary kids Spanish. My group worked with students who were new to spanish so we were able to teach them a lot of the basics of the language such as the colors, alphabet, and numbers. It was really exciting to play games and see as they understood more as time went on.
This falls under communicate ideas because each week we taught the elementary schoolers more and more Spanish. I used skills gained in JAGS to be best teacher I could be. My hope is that they continue doing these lessons each year and one day teach them too.
For Science, Energy, and the environment I completed a service project where I built a birdbox and then volunteered at Stark Parks. The first thing I did for this class was build an birdbox for an Eastern Bluebird. I did this as a park of the Trash to Treasure competition that Stark Parks hosts. Next, I went to Exploration Gateway to clean seeds. Prior to my visit a different group collected the seeds. Then we came to separate the seed from extra plant bits.
This connects to the JAGS pillar Take Action because volunteering in the community is one of the best ways to take action. This especiially helps my community because the plants we worked with our native to the area and helps the ecosystem prosper.

One of the most challengng classes I took during Junior year was Model UN. This class required me to talk and speak publicly more so than any class I'd taken before. It was due to this challenge that I became a better speaker. By going to conferences for Model UN I was able to stregthen my skills at communicating.
In order to suceed in Model UN you need to know two main things, any and all pressing news about the country you've chosen and the proper way to make a motion. At Lake Center Christian my delegation was able to do so and have a great conference.
For College Composition II every student chose a social issue they focused on for the entire semester. I wanted to look into charter schools. I The third essay I wrote for the class was focused on the solutions to the social issue. We had to conduct an interview with an expert and then use their expertise to write a paper on the solutions. I spoke with Aaron Churchill, Preston Green, and Stephane Lavertu. In the end I learned that it comes down to how well parents are informed on schools. It comes down to what a child needs and looking at the schools in an area to see what best supports a student.
This project highlighted what I do in JAGS by giving me the opportunity to investigate this social issue and use the skills I learned to interview and communicate with these high level professionals. This project specifically was really important to me because I enjoy hearing other people’s opinions on issues. It’s incredibly vital to listen to those who are well qualified in an area and really listen to what they have to say. It was only required to interview one person but I found it so rewarding being able to talk to three experts from two different locations and see how their opinions clashed and what they believed was the best solution or most important part of the same issue. I’m grateful for this project because I was able to learn more about the world why also honing my skills to communicate.
