My Genius Project connects to the JAGS pillar, Investigate the World. During the two and a half months I spent updating my website daily on new historical events I was able to gain a lot of knowledge on the world. It brought new events and information to light that I otherwise would never have known. This project was an example of my best work in freshman English because, it allowed me to spend countless hours throughout those couple months gaining knowledge and investigating the history of our world. This project will always stick with me and is one of the main reasons history is incredibly important to me.
Gavin Schlachter - 2/8/23 - 4/28/23 - Genius Project - Mrs. DePriest - Investigate the World
This year I completed my Genius Project during the second half of Mrs. DePriest's English Class. The purpose of my project was to educate myself and others of the history "on this day." It served to bring attention to different historical events that had taken place on each day that we were in school between 2/8 and 4/28 of the 2022-2023 school year. This project allowed me educate the people around me and appreciate the world's history.
World History
This year in World History, we prepared a witness statement for the Russian Revolution and acted it out in front of the class. You were a witness to the Russian royal family and government. You had to argue in support of Tsar Nicholas II or Vladimir Lennon. The project allowed us to choose a character and act out that character in a creative way. The purpose of it was to add a fun and innovative twist to putting us in the perspective of a character during the Russian Revolution.
This assignment connects to the Communicating Ideas pillar of JAGS because we had to put ourselves in the shoes of someone during this time period and act out their interactions. This is the best work in World History, because it allowed me to act out the experiences of people in history and have fun with my classmates while doing so.

Gavin Schlachter - 5/15/23 - Summit Night- Mr. Preston - Investigate the World
In spring 2023, I completed a partner project on the country of Saudi Arabia. My partner and I researched multiple areas of the country and compiled our information into a poster. Before this project, I had never taken the time to research anything about Saudi Arabia. This project introduced me to new information about a country and acted almost as an introduction to the deeper aspects of the country.
This project connects to the JAGS pillar, Investigate the World. I learned new information about the country of Saudi Arabia, like lifestyles, people, conflicts, and much more. This Summit Night project is an example of my best work in Biology this year, and helped me learn about life abroad.

During the fall of 2022, I created a project for Hispanic Heritage month. For the project I created a painting based on Pablo Picasso's cubism art form. I also tried various authentic hispanic dishes such as tamales and flan and watched several hispanic documentaries on the history of hispanic countries. This project allowed me to get closer to hispanic traditions and lifestyles and helped me experience some of what other people live through.
I would connect this project to the JAGS pillars, Communicate Ideas, Recognize Perspectives, and Investigate the World. The project allowed me to share my experiences with Hispanic Heritage with my classmates and dicuss the importance of Hispanic Heritage. It also helped me see into the lives of people from Hispanic Heritage and learn about their history, lifestyle, and much more. With that I also investigated a new part of the world and was able to learn a lot of new information about Hispanic Heritage.

Freshman Trip to Heifer
Gavin Schlachter - 5/17/23-5/19/23 - Investigate the World and Recognize Perspectives
Heifer Global Village was by far the best experience of my freshman year. From the endless information I learned about different countries in the world to actually getting to experience what it's like to live in some of those countries, I was fully immerced in an amazing experience. I was asigned to the country of Guatemala and had the opportunity to make a traditional Guatemalan rice dish. While I didn't get to spend the night in Guatemala, I did get to spend it in Tibet under the stars. The historical experiences we got to experience at Harper's Ferry were also another amazing stop on our trip. This trip allowed me to simulate life in another country and connected me with new people and perspectives.
This trip connected to the JAGS pillars, Investigate the World and Recognize Perspectives. The trip introduced me to new places in the world and took us to many different historical locations. It also allowed me to Recognize Perspectives and let me see what life was like throughout the world and in Harper's Ferry. This trip was easily the most influential part of my freshman year and introduced me to life outside of the U.S.
