Rhetorical Analysis

Mrs. Wiggins - CCP Composition I
Communicate Ideas
The CCP Composition class taught me how to evaluate when something was credible or not. In this assignment, I was taught to evaluate the effectiveness of an argument. We were first learned the rhetoric of each argument, and each was focused on reaching different people. For this specific essay, the author was writing the argument in a way that was meant for old grammarians. This essay was written in a way that evaluated the effectiveness of using this rhetoric, which I deemed to be very effective as many logical arguments were used.
This assignment was able to teach me how to evaluate the credibleness of other people's arguments while also teaching me how to make my own arguments more credible. This rhetoric is very important for communiating ideas with others. In order for ideas to be communicated, there must be an understanding between all parties that will cause an understanding of the other perspectives, while still allowing your idea to be expressed to others.

Investigating the Ethicality of the Use of Nuclear Weapons

Mr. Taray - AP Seminar
Recognize Perspectives
AP Seminar is focused on creating a student that is able to evaluate the credibility of an argument, as well as writing a convincing argument utilizing multiple perspectives. For this group assignment, we were tasked with creating a research question and presenting different lens' on the research question. Our group decided to go with the question, "In what circumstance is the use of nuclear weapons justified?" In order for this project to be successful, different countries were researched in order to obtain their beliefs on the when to use nuclear weapons and why.
This project was all about the pillar, "Recognizing Perspectives". This project needed an open going into each different perspective/country, as no bias was to be used when doing research. When compiling each perspective and choosing the best solution, we used a combination of different ideas in order to fully incorporate the best ideas. This project forced my ideas to change about the ethicality of nuclear weapons, as national sovereignty and deterrence had to be accounted for when thinking about the best solution in a realistic way. Ultimately, this project taught me that the best solution might not exactly be what I had envisioned before, because there might be unforeseen obstacles that plaque the seemingly "best" solution.

Fuel Cell Football Challenge Lab

Mrs. Whitacre - AP Chemistry
Investigate the World
The AP Chemistry class was focused on figuring out the workings of the some of the smallest elements, while also noticing how changing small factors about these affect the world. Challenge labs were utilized in this class to force us to figure out how to make a specific outcome happen. In this challenge lab, we were supposed to create the most powerful form of mixture of gas between Hydrogen and Oxygen. These mixtures had to be formed through precarious measures that many times would not work because of a leak in gas.
This lab embodies the JAGS pillar, "Investigate the World". This is because we were able to learn the mixtures that came from these gases, as well as find out what happens when this mixture is lighted on fire. Not only this lab, but this entire class embodied this ideal as is was encouraged to think outside the box and think of new ways to solve a problem or create new mixtures between different elements. This class taught me that the world and science are not expected, and that nothing has definite rules, even the universe. This can be seen through resonance structures, in which the third of the bond rotates around in order to make the element work.

Madame Krulock - French IV
Investigate the World
French IV was key in helping me start to speak and listen in French. The previous classes had allowed me to become better at reading and writing in French, however, this level had much more speaking and listening in French, as everything was supposed to be in French instead of English. This project was meant to help us along, as we had to give a presentation on what I would do on a trip to Marseille and Lyon in France. A tentative script was made, however, much of the speaking that we did reflected our research as we were not supposed to memorize the script.
This project exemplified the JAGS pillar "Investigate the World" because of the research that needed to take place in order to know how the trip will go. I researched different spot of Marseille and Lyon, finding what would interest me most, while also learning about the spots in order to explain why I would want to go there. This allowed me to learn more about the culture in France, as well as learn about the Mediterranean culture center, which is one of the places that I chose for my spots. This project allowed me to learn more about culture in France while also allowing me to grow in my speaking skills in French.

JAGS Europe Trip 2025
March, 2025
JAGS Class of 2025/2026
Investigate the World/Communicate Ideas/Recognize Perspectives
The Europe trip was extremely eye-opening for all involved. We were able to visit France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. Throughout the trip, I was able to learn first-hand about culture and food. We were able to visit monumental sites of these cities, while also making time for the small sites that the tour guides feel are important for us to learn and know about.
One of the things that I loved about this trip was the fact that I was able to talk in French to the locals. This fulfills the "Communicate Ideas" pillar. Each person I talked to fully appreciated that I was speaking their language, and I was able to have conversations with people who did not speak English. This experience was very beneficial for my confidence in French, as I knew that I had enough skills and vocabulary to be able to converse with actual French people in a correct way. This trip also fulfilled the "Investigate the World" pillar, as we were able to learn about each of the countries and cities that we visited through museums as well as guided historical tours. Finally, we were able to "Recognize Perspectives", specifically in Germany where we were able to learn how World War II has affected Germany and how their school systems and government systems are different because of this.
