My JAGS Journey
Initially, I chose JAGS for two main reasons. Firstly, I was intrigued by the idea of a curriculum that explored more global topics and issues. I thought that it would be a great environment to learn about topics that intrigued me. Secondly, at the time, a lot of my friends were considering going into the program, and I wanted to have classes with them.
The Four Pillars of JAGS

Investigate the World:
I met this criteria freshman year I learning vital information about global history in my world history class. We covered different subjects such as imperialism and Napoleon.
Recognize perspectives:
I was also able to learn about this in world history class. In that class, we each had different roles for each topic. For example, for the French Revolution, I was in a group portraying the poorest of the French citizens. And during our WWII unit, I portrayed Britain
Communicate Ideas:
One of the ways I improved my communication skills was through the Genius Hour presentation, where I presented my newly found skills to my fellow peers.
Take Action:
I achieved this pillar freshman year by simulating a heifer, where I had to go out of my way to help the refugee group with getting food and donating our supplies to them.

Investigate the World:
I reached this pillar by researching and writing the script for our documentary, and through doing that, I learned a lot about critically endangered animals across the globe.
Recognize perspectives:
I worked on this pillar for my essay in language arts about social norms. Through my research that I learned about how different cultures have entirely different ways to greet one another.
Communicate Ideas:
I was able to improve my communication skills by presenting my family presentation in Spanish class. By doing that, I was able to gain the skill to present in a foreign language.
Take Action:
One of the ways I was able to achieve this pillar was my GO night presentation, where my group and I raised awareness about hunger in our community.

Investigate the World:
One of the ways I reached this Pillar was by researching deforestation in Brazil for my Model UN resolution.
Recognize perspectives:
I met this pillar through my experience at Case Western, writing resolutions and talking to people who were from other schools, and a few from other states.
Communicate Ideas:
I improved upon my ability to communicate through Model UN and having to present my beliefs in front of an entire room of people.
Take Action:
One of the ways I took action during my Junior year was when I presented my research about coaching and directly told my fellow peers how to be better leaders, both in their athletic career and academic career.
