Working on the CASE D.P.A.R.T.Y.S. resolution in the UN Peacekeeping Committee has been a transformative part of my experience in the Jackson Academy of Global Studies. It deepened my understanding of international security, cultural preservation, and the challenges of peacekeeping missions around the world. Through collaboration with students representing diverse nations from schools across northeastern Ohio, I developed a stronger global perspective and gained practical skills in diplomacy, negotiation, and policy-making. This experience has helped me think critically about real-world solutions to global conflict and strengthened my commitment to international cooperation and justice.
I chose this project to encapsulate my overall experience in french l because it was the project where we did the most and had to present our research to the class. Everyone in the class was told to research either their own family or a famous family to help learn about the names of family members in French. I decided to do the Sanders family because at the time, Shedeur Sanders was just drafted to the Cleveland Browns. As a member of JAGS this project help me develop connections with the francophoneculture as I developed my understanding of the language.
Over the school year, I did various projects in Physics class, but I wanted to reflect on my instrument project because that is the one I had the hardest time with. For our project me and my group members Daniel Gadzic, Jackson Baker, and Tyler Firth, wanted to craft a handmade harp for this project. While the Idea was great, the execution most definitely wasn't at first. We had to do numerous tweaks to reinforce the body and to change the material of the strings to get a better quality sound. This project taught me the importance of patience to get your ideal result.
The largest project I did in my junior English class was my research and Google site about coaching. We were instructed to investigate and present something that we were passionate about and I wanted to do a sports-related topic. I then created a Canva and a Google site that explored how great coaches can elevate teams and players, how players in winning traditions and a competitive environment can help their development and determination. The biggest thing I learned about this was the importance of good leadership. Whether it's in a profession or a sport, it is difficult to succeed as a collective if you lack proper leadership. And great leaders will do everything to put their players in a position to suceed.
Being part of JAGS and participating in Model UN has enriched my high school experience by connecting me to global issues in a meaningful way. Writing and presenting a resolution on deforestation helped me understand the complexity of environmental challenges and the need for international cooperation. It also strengthened my research, public speaking, and leadership skills, while encouraging me to think critically as a globally-minded student.
