Work Permit Information

*Minors under 18 years of age must attend school to get a work permit. If a student graduates from high school before age 18, he or she no longer needs a work permit. If a student passes the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) or the G.E.D. before the age of 18, he or she no longer needs a work permit. 

*Student must have a 2.0 GPA in order to receive a work permit. 

1. Pick up a work permit application from Mrs. Wilson in the library OR request a work permit application by emailing Mrs. Wilson.  Email: Ashley_beavers@bearvalleyusd.org 

2. Fill out the "Minors Information" section on the work permit application and sign where it says "Student Signature."

3. Get parent/guardian signature.

4. Have employer fill out the employer section and get their signature on the work permit application.

5. Student must bring completed work permit application back to Mrs. Wilson at the high school.

6. Mrs. Wilson will issue students official work permit. Student needs to be present in order to sign the official permit.

7. Copies will be made of permit application and Official Permit.

8. Bring both the official work permit and a copy of the permit application back to your employer for them to keep on file.

Work permits are valid until the beginning of the next school year or when you turn 18, whichever comes first. Work permits will be revoked if a student's GPA becomes lower than 2.0.
