Our meetings alternate between business and economically focused days, highlighting our interdisciplinary involvement with both fields.
Business meetings are all about combining our understanding of economics with contemporary business news to make connections between current events and become more knowledgeable about the field of business.
On these days, the agenda consists of:
•Business news: Members share one business-related news item they find interesting.
•Markets discussion: Members share their thoughts on a specific financial product, and their thoughts on its future price movements.
•Company review: Members research the most important factors of a chosen company (its PE ratio, debt and assets, leadership, etc.).
•Networking/Career Skills: Members engage in hands-on workshops aimed to help improve their chances of landing their desired role in the future, or otherwise building crucial skills for the Business World.
•Guest Speakers: Members hear from experts in their field and ask questions about the person's journey to/in the field and hear any personal advice they have. So far, we have had CPAs, Wealth Managers, and more professionals visit our club meetings.
•General Discussion
Economics meetings serve the purpose of informing our members about economics-related topics. By having members expose each other to things that may not have been previously known to them, we expand our grasp of the subject in order to come to more informed conclusions about business and economics-related events.
On these days, the agenda consists of:
•Presentation or Debate: A member presents an economic concept, theory, piece of economic history, or a contemporary topic of their picking. Or: Two members can participate in a structured debate on a topic agreed a week beforehand.
•Meme review: Members create and rate appropriate memes about economics.
