Dear Families,
We’re getting closer to reaching one of our big goals — learning all 50 states and capitals! The class has been working so hard, and I’m really proud of their progress so far. We just started our final region- Western States and Capitals. After we complete this region, we will begin practicing and preparing for an assessment on all 50 states and all 50 capitals. The assessment will be done on two separate days.
To help your child feel even more confident, here are a few fun ways you can practice at home:
🌎 Review a few states each night — focus on 5 at a time.
Use flashcards or online games- I post games on Google Classroom to practice.
🎵 Sing along to states and capitals songs — We use Tour of the States (Which they love) and The Animaniacs Version.
🚗 Quiz each other in the car or at dinner time — make it a quick, fun challenge.
🗺️ Look at maps together and have your child point out states or their capitals.
Study Packets/Sheets will be coming home to help practice.
Your support at home really helps build confidence and reinforces what we’ve been practicing in class. Thank you for all you do to encourage learning, I can’t wait to see how much they grow as we reach our goal!
Thanks for all you do,
Mrs. Harcarik
