This week, ESL students started taking the WIDA test. For grades 1-8, the test is broken into 4 parts: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Students will complete one section per day in that order. A testing session may run approximately 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes. I will be administering the tests to all grades. Students do not need to study for the WIDA as it tests English proficiency. I will go through the practice materials with the students prior to testing to familiarize them with the format and expectations. Kindergarteners follow a different format. They will be tested individually by me. Each Kindergarten student will be pulled and tested one day during a 1-hour period. Your Kindergarten child will only be tested during one of the 2 weeks listed. Please see the tentative schedule below.
Note: The schedule may change based on snow days and absences.
Week of January 12- 4th grade, 5th grade, and 7th grade
Week of January 20- 2nd grade and 3rd grade
Week of January 26- 2nd grader and 3 Kindergarten students (one on one with Mrs. Costello)
Week of February 2- 5 Kindergarten students (one on one with Mrs. Costello)
