Stay Home If:
Has a temperature >100.0 F, can return to school 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal (98.6) without the use of medication
Is vomiting or has diarrhea, can return to school 24 hrs after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.
Unexplained rash on body or face, can return with a doctor's note
Severe cold, persistent cough, and/or sore throat, can return with a doctor's note or when symptom free
Eyes that are swollen, red, and crusty, can return with a doctor's note and when symptom free
*The nurse will send home students with any of these symptoms*
Injuries
Parents/guardians may write an excuse from physical activities for up to two days, after two days, a medical note is needed.
If your child has had an injury in school, or on the playground during school hours and it was not reported by the student, the parent/guardian should immediately notify the school as soon as possible.
Head injuries can occur at any time during play or sports. A concussion is a type of brain injury that changes the way the brain normally works. You can't see a concussion. Signs and symptoms of a concuss
ion can show up after an injury or may not appear until hours or days after an injury.
Signs and symptoms include: headache, nausea/vomiting, double vision, changes in vision, sensitivity to light/sound, feels sluggish or foggy, difficult with concentration and short term memory loss, sleep disturbance and or irritability.
*If you suspect that your child has had a concussion or has these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately*
Misc Info
Cough drops: can only be given with parental consent. Student will be required to sit in the office until he/she is done with the cough drop. Parent must bring the cough drops, students are not allowed to carry them.
Field Trips: If your child has an inhaler, EPI-PEN or Benadryl and cannot self carry the medication, the parent/guardian will be asked if they can attend the field trip. If you are unable to attend, please contact the school nurse as soon as possible.
Lice: If your child is positive for head lice, or if you are unsure about your child having head lice, please contact the school nurse, so I can follow up with your child and I can assist you with further information.
Medical Concerns/ Medications
If your child has any medical concerns, contact the nurse.
Medication: If your child needs medication during school hours contact the nurse.
Students are NOT allowed to carry medication (prescription or over the counter).
Updated immunizations and completed physicals should be submitted to the nurse
Health Screenings will be done every year.
