Fourth of July
Every year, Samish Island hosts a huge parade where people from miles around come to see it. Homemade floats roll down Blue Heron Road behind the marching band, each themed and stocked with candy and kids.
Don't go home once it turns dark. Both north and south beaches, hold a beautiful firework show! Some people set their own fireworks in their yards or down at the beaches.
Every summer a row of tractors and their drivers parade around the island, and one of the things that makes it special is that you don't even have to drive anywhere to see it!
Driftwood Forts
Holidays aren't the only tradition! There are plenty of nearly daily, playful occurrences, such as driftwood forts. Kids love hiding and spying, so here they are in their natural environment that they created themselves! The beach provides them with an assortment of wood, so the supply is endless.
