In the spring of 2019, a team of Literacy Teachers and other experts in the field of Literacy from our district adopted the American Reading Company (ARC) Literacy Curriculum for Kindergarten-3rd grade.
In the Spring of 2020 another team of experts from our district, after months of research, collaborative scrutinizing, and hours of searching for a curriculum that would meet each child's specific needs also adopted the ARC curriculum for 4th-8th grade.
This is my second year using this specific curriculum. I was on the team that selected this curriculum, so I knew what I was getting into. The curriculum is very dense and rigorous. I wouldn't want it any other way. That being said, getting used to a new curriculum always creates a steep learning curve.
My goal is for all students in my classroom to reach the standard 4th-grade reading level and beyond. Literacy is power!
