Your participation in Graduation will occur if:
1. All financial obligations to the school have been paid.
2. You have met all B-E North requirements for graduation including Advisory and all state assessments.
3. You pass all required classes needed for graduation.
4. You have no disciplinary action arise that would deny your participation.
FINES - Seniors can pay their fines anytime. You don't want to wait until the last few days because the line gets long. The Athletic/Activities Office hours are 7:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Fines can be paid before school, during lunch and after school. All senior fines must be paid by June 12th in order to be able to participate in Graduation.
SENIOR PARENTS' TEA – JUNE 3rd - PAC
You are invited to the Senior Parents' Tea for seniors and their parents / guardians which will be held on Monday, June 3rd in the PAC. The program starts at 5:00 p.m. Students and parents should dress in "tea" attire. Seniors will be showcased. Only parents or guardians are invited as we do not have enough room to include siblings. Sponsored by the Junior Class.
ATHLETIC / ACTIVITIES ASSEMBLY – JUNE 3rd
The Athletic / Activities Assembly will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 1:45 pm in the GYM. Seniors will be acknowledged for their athletic and/or activity involvement throughout their high school years. Those senior students qualifying will be presented with a plaque for their number of years of participation in sports and/or activities. Parents are encouraged to attend.
REGULAR SCHOOL DAY/CHECK-OUT/SENIOR MEETING – JUNE 5th - PAC
Seniors will attend all periods on June 5th. At 12:50 students will check out with their teachers. Check out includes returning textbooks, library books, clearing all lockers and returning locks and paying fines. You will be given a check-out sheet on Monday, June 3rd, which must be signed by all teachers, the library, food service, the attendance and athletic offices, which indicates you have cleared all responsibilities and obligations. If you are earning any credits outside the regular school day, these should be indicated on the bottom of this form and your progress appropriately documented. Your participation in Graduation is determined from information on this sheet.
SALUTE - SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS ASSEMBLY - JUNE 4th at 6:00 pm - Kirkby Field
The B-EHS community local donors work extremely hard throughout the year to raise money to recognize and award our B-EHS students. These local donors will be attending the Salute Assembly to present the many scholarships and awards. At the assembly, the donors and the recipients will have an opportunity to meet and to take pictures. Other mentioned scholarships and awards during the assembly includes Burlington-Edison Alumni Foundation (The B-EAF), some Community & Service Clubs, The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS), Faith-Based Organizations, Memorials, School & Booster Clubs, Champions of Diversity, Military Awards, Running Start, Technical & Community Colleges, In-State Colleges & Universities, Out-Of-State Colleges & Universities, and Awards & Acknowledgements for Marine Corps. During this assembly, National Honor Society Students will be receiving their honor chords. Seniors are expected to wear their graduation gowns (no hats, tassels or stoles). Students receiving scholarships and awards need to attend. Parents are welcomed.
GRADUATION – JUNE 7th
Graduation will be held Friday, June 7th at 7:00 p.m. at Burlington-Edison High School on the Kirkby Field. Seniors must be at the PAC by 6:00 p.m. dressed appropriately in cap, gown and stole. STickets are not required to attend the graduation ceremonies. The doors to the PAC will open at 6:00pm and it is first come first served for seats.
APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR GRADUATION
You must dress appropriately for the ceremonies. Appropriate clothing for girls: skirt, dress or dress pants and dress shoes. Appropriate clothing for boys: dress pants, coordinated dress shoes, socks, and collared shirt (tie optional). No shorts.
GRADUATION CEREMONIES – EXPECTATIONS AND ETIQUETTE
Graduation is a serious ceremony that is intended for students, staff, parents, families and community members to send our graduating seniors off to the start of their adult lives. Many students will be recognized for their accomplishments. It is expected that the graduating seniors will show their respect to their fellow students, staff and community members as they speak, perform and are being recognized. Cell phones, other electronic devices, or items that might be disruptive and/or disrespectful to the ceremony and its participants are not allowed. Please encourage appropriate behavior.
DIPLOMA DISBURSEMENT - JUNE 7th
Diplomas cannot be placed inside the jacket covers at graduation. Diplomas can be picked up right after the Graduation Ceremony on Friday, June 7th. Some students cannot receive a diploma at that time because we have to wait for grades to post for Running Start, NCTA and fines. We do not mail diplomas. It is your responsibility to pick it up (immediate family members are allowed to pick up as well).
