5th Grade Band and Orchestra

5th grade Band and Orchestra take place before the regular school day two mornings each week. Students play in a few concerts during the year, including the famous Parade of Bands.

Rental instruments are quite affordable are the best option for beginners, as they are high quality instruments that will make it easier on your student.
BDMS does have a limited number of instruments available for students who would like to start an instrument, but cannot afford a rental. Please contact one of the music teachers for more information and to see what instruments are available.

Steps to Joining 5th Grade Band or Orchestra

Attend one of our Instrument Tryout and Rental times. This is an open house style event where you will:

- - Select an instrument with the guidance of the music teachers
  - Register for Summer Music Lessons (these are required of all beginners). This action will also register you for Band or Orchestra for the upcoming school year.
  - The music stores will have a displays and forms for parents who wish to set up instrument rental

In the Summer Music Lessons, your student will be with only their instrument group. Students will learn to put together and make a sound on their instrument, and to read and play several notes and rhythms. This will put him/her in a great position to succeed once school starts and the band and orchestra meet with all the instruments combined together.
