After each fish net pull, students added their data to the whole school learning wall. This data was then inputted into Google Sheets. The number of herring data was compared to the moon illumination and the wind speed. This comparison showed a correlation between the number of fish caught and the phase of the moon. This dataset supported the traditional knowledge shared.
Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 participated in a fish exploration activity, cutting and cleaning the herring. They also learned parts of the fish in Inuvialuktun.
The Students learned about setting and pulling the fish net then got to explore, measure, weigh and compare the fish caught.
