Mr. Allen attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from St. Cloud State (MN) University with a BS in physical sciences (physics and chemistry). He later obtained his MS in Ed Leadership from Southwest State (MN) University. While teaching in Minnesota, he taught as an adjunct physics instructor at SCSU as well as high school physics and chemistry. He is the advisor to the CLIC student leadership program and is the head coach for flag football. Mr. Allen is excited to begin his 27th year in education and his sixth year at BDCHS.

Mrs. Mitchell, also known as "Coach Cookie", graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Art. She also serves as the sponsor for the BDCHS National Art Honor Society and the Students of Color Association as well as being the Head Coach for Boys Volleyball. In her spare time she enjoys traveling (cruising) and coaching travel volleyball. Mrs. Mitchell is in her 8th year at BDCHS.
AP Spanish
Elsie Caraballo describes herself as a Spanish teacher, grammar geek, and a world trotter. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Ohio in 2006. She attended the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico where she obtained a Bachelor Degree in Secondary Education. Elsie holds a Masters Degree in Classroom Technology from Bowling Green State University where she also worked as a Graduate Teacher Associate. Elsie enjoys immersing her students in meaningful language experiences through the use of technology. She also enjoys traveling with her students to Spanish-speaking countries and has had the opportunity to organize student tours to Spain, Costa Rica, and Ecuador.

Jordan Baumgartner earned a bachelor's degree in both Secondary Education Social Studies and History from Eastern Michigan University. During his teaching career in multiple public, private, and charter schools, he has taught Civics, U.S. History, U.S. Government, World History Honors, and AP World History classes. He has also held positions such as Technology Coordinator, Student Council Advisor, and National Junior Honor Society Advisor. He is a Michigan native who has grown up around hockey. As such, he established the first ever Street Hockey Team for both Imagine Schools and Carrollwood Day School. In his free time, you will find him skating in his weekly ice hockey league or enjoying many weekends at Walt Disney World as an annual pass holder with his wife, Lauren.

Ms. Soltis graduated Magna Cum Laude in History from the University of Florida before attaining her Master’s degree in Secondary Social Science. It was here she published her Honors Thesis “Sway and Scandal: The Sexual Politics of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Melisende of Jerusalem during the Second Crusades” in Alpata: A Journal of History. Ms. Soltis joined the BDCHS staff in 2015 and currently sponsors the Model United Nations Club. From 2019 - 2020 she attended the AP Reading, grading AP World History Exams for College Board. In her spare time, she cuddles hers two cats, Minerva and Cena, and her dog Albus.

AP Capstone (Seminar & Research)
Sean Marcus has spent over 20 years teaching high school in Tampa Bay, split among a wide range of public and independent schools. He has taught all levels of language arts and reading, journalism, television production, creative writing and graphic design, and advised nationally recognized publications. Marcus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and a Master’s degree in English Education, both from the University of South Florida. As a lifelong learner, he has pursued learning opportunities ranging from bookbinding and letterpress printing to digital citizenship and internet safety. When he is not teaching, he is busy curating his Twitter feed with a range of reliable news sources, reading literature and hanging out with his wife and children.
AP Human Geography
David Haupt is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. He got his bachelor's degree in History at Slippery Rock University. He has prior experience as an educator at an experiential school for students with ADHD where he taught history and outdoor skills. He most recently was teaching history for 6th and 8th grade at McLane Middle School, where he also served as the school's "Canvas Champion" before joining the BDCHS faculty. He is passionate about historical writing and research, pop culture, and the outdoors.

Jonathan Neal has lived in Florida his whole life, spending most of that time in Fort Myers. He got his bachelor's degree in History right here in Tampa, at The University of South Florida. He has 4 years of prior experience as an educator, all in the History field. He most recently was teaching history for 7th and 8th grade at Burns Middle School, where he also served as the school's student government sponsor and athletic director, before joining the BDCHS faculty this past January. He is passionate about early American History, fitness and nutrition, reading books, and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
AP Environmental Science
During the previous 16 years, Mr. Kensky taught middle-grade Science at Sam Rampello Downtown Partnership K-8 Magnet School with the School District of Hillsborough County. He taught regular and advanced Science curriculum and helped struggling students in Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies in the after-school Extended Learning Program. He was the Science Subject Area Leader at Rampello for 12 years. Mr. Kensky coached the school’s Track and Field Team and acted as the Head Coach of the school’s Flag Football team. Upon earning his Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Tampa, he was instrumental in taking on the responsibility of Arts Teaching Coach to help educate other educators on how to infuse right-brain learning activities into the core classroom curriculum.
Mr. Kensky attended Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science and Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
As an employee of Hillsborough Community College, he has been instrumental in aiding Under-Represented Minority students in STEM career pathways.
