This is a Painting course addressing matters in the areas of still-life, portrait, landscape, and abstract paintings using acrylics, watercolors and water soluble oil paints. Students will focus on developing content and personal expression and gain full understanding for the process and capabilities for painting.
Students will be guided through a series of weekly projects focusing on a variety topics. These projects will further advance understanding of the process of painting through pre-liminary drawings, as well as develop conceptual possibilities within painting. This course is an advanced level painting class where emphasis is be placed largely on representational art making with subjects stemming from objects, and students personal views
"ALL About Me" worksheet. This will allow you to get the opportunity to show off your skills and understand how the class will function. It will also allow you to explore and ask unique questions.

Recommended Materials for the Class:
Pencils of different hardness. You are welcome to buy others if you want to.
A set of water color paints
Drawing paper- Water color paper-I have available if needed.
Painting pad with at least 15 or more pages.
Acrylic Paint set- I have available if needed
Variety of paint brushes
3-5 various surfaces to paint on ( canvas, board, wood, plastic, metal, found object)
Rags, and cleaning materials
Goals:
To advance one's representational painting skills.
To develop a knowledge of drawing's formal and material elements.
To realize the conceptual through the pictorial.
To introduce a critical framework for thinking about and looking at art.
To promote visual thinking.
To have full understanding for various painting techniques
The course will include a final exam where you will apply everything that you have learned about art-making. The purpose of this test is to demonstrate improvement and knowledge gained from course. It is also important that you follow directions and do not cheat with your work, otherwise you will be tricking yourself into a high grade that will be meaningless.

Late Assignments
All assignments will be given a due date. Assignments can be submitted late up to a week with a 10% penalty. You will have until the end of the week to turn it in.
Discussions
Some assignments require that you participate in discussion boards. Please make sure that you complete those as well, as they are part of your grade.

If for some reason you are unable to turn in an assignment in time and require more time or special arrangements, make sure to contact me directly so that I can work with you.
