I have been teaching in NC since 2007, in Brunswick County since 2012 and I have lived in Leland with my family since 2017. Most of my teaching experience has been in Math 1, Math 3 and AP Stats, with a few other courses throughout my tenure. I have served as the Beginning Teacher Coordinator since 2020.

As much as possible, a standards based grading rubric will be used. Assessments are created and aligned to standards for all courses. Students should use the feedback from these assessments to reflect on their strengths and weaknesses throughout the course. It is important to know, that in order to exceed mastery, students need to demonstrate an application of the standard beyond what we did in class. This could be application, going backwards, creating, combining more than one standard, or have more steps.
It is crucial to the learning process that students show their work and their thinking is visible. This allows me to give them appropriate feedback and adjust my lessons to allow them additional opportunities to demonstrate mastery
