Ms. Copley's Social Studies

Welcome! My name is Kara Copley, and I am so excited to be teaching 8th Grade Social Studies at CGMS! I graduated from UNC Charlotte with degrees in Political Science and Communication Studies and earned my teaching licensure from NC State University.

This is my fifth year in education and my first year teaching 8th Grade Social Studies at CGMS. I am thrilled to begin a new school year and look forward to getting to know my students and helping them discover a love for history and social studies.

My goal is to create a classroom that is safe, welcoming, and comfortable, where every student feels valued, supported, and confident in their ability to learn. I want my students to know that they are important and capable of achieving more than they may realize. Throughout the year, I will encourage my students to challenge themselves, ask questions, think critically, and become engaged citizens.

A Little About Me

Outside of the classroom, I am a dog person through and through! My fiancé and I have two doodles, Gucci and Stella. We also enjoy playing golf and spending time on the beach.

Most of all, I love teaching Social Studies and getting students excited about the world around them. I can't wait for a wonderful year of learning, growing, and making memories together!
