To Tweet, or not to Tweet?
To Tweet, or not to Tweet?
Since emerging in 2006, Twitter has become a social media network. Your network grows as you find and follow others.
This micro-blogging platform, so called because of the 280 character limit for tweets, has become a place for educators to connect and share with other educators around the world! Educators are using this tool to transform teaching and their professional learning!
There are great ideas to be discovered - and connections to be made - if you know how to look for them!
How do I begin?
Getting started with Twitter, or digging deeper into the Twitterverse, has never been easier! Numerous resources just for educators exist to help you get the most out of your experience. Looking for a way to engage your students with an upcoming unit of study? Chances are pretty good you can find an educator to help with that on Twitter! And once you make that connection, more will follow!
Time is precious - we get it. Twitter should NOT be time consuming. First, let go of the need to read all of the tweets. Set aside a few minutes each day to scroll through your Twitter feed to see what's abuzz. Get into the habit of following relevant resources and your time will be well spent. Whether you spend 5 minutes each morning scrolling through the feed or 20 minutes while things settle down in the evenings, find your rhythm and stick to it - as much as you can.
We've put together some resources to help you get started - or pick up where you left off on your adventures with Twitter. Each of these topics corresponds with tasks in our 20 Day Twitter Challenge - a move at your own pace challenge to help you get out of the nest and soar beyond liking and retweeting.
Whether you are new to Twitter or a well-tweeted user, this challenge will take you through steps to get the most from your Twitter experience. With a little practice, this tool can open new doors for you and your learners!
