In response to the recent Executive Order issued by Governor Brian Kemp, the Butts County School System will be extending our school closure through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Students will not return to face-to-face instruction this school year. Digital learning will continue through the remainder of this school year.
We will pause distance learning activities and meal delivery for the week of spring break. Students are not expected to complete assignments during Spring Break.
At this time we are not making plans to extend the school year.
Paper packets will be provided in limited quantities to students. We encourage parents to access, complete, and submit work digitally. Please visit our website or contact your child’s principal for more information.
Students with paper assignment packets can drop off their completed work at their school. Each school has a designated location for assignment drop off located outside the building. Online work will be submitted through Google Classroom or email.
We will not be sending home the progress reports that were scheduled to be issued April 23rd. Our plan at this point in time is to monitor the work students are doing during our distance learning and to provide both parents and students with feedback regarding that work.
The state has received a waiver from the federal government and all mandatory state testing has been suspended for this school year. Students will not be participating in Milestones Assessments this school year.
BCSS has adapted grading procedures to reflect distance learning. Click here to read the full guide and procedures.
Please contact your child’s principal via email or call the school between 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. We will do our best to make arrangements for you to retrieve any necessary items.
We are unable to provide meal delivery service door-to-door. We are making every attempt to design bus routes that will reach as many of our families as possible. We encourage families to work together to carpool or make arrangements to have their students at one of our established stops. Please visit our website for the most current routes available including an interactive map that will show the meal delivery stop nearest your address. We will continue to evaluate and add stops as needed. Please email info@bcssk12.org with any questions or concerns about meal delivery routes.
All Butts County Schools will have WiFi enabled in the parking lots of the building. Guests can connect to the Network ID - BCSS-Guest. No password is required.
We are working to acquire devices that will turn BCSS school buses into mobile hotspots. We hope to have them deployed soon and will provide location information in the coming days.
The City of Flovilla has created a guest WiFi account available for use. City Hall is currently closed to the public, however, parent/students can park in the city parking lot (308 Heard Street) and access the city guest WiFi account from their personal devices. The network ID is: CityofFlovillaGuest. The password is cityofflovilla (all lowercase). Please call City Hall at 770 -775 -5661 with any questions.
The best method of communication with our staff during this time is email. You can find a list of staff email addresses on the school website. We will have staff members on-call to answer the phone Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Please call 678-685-1864 to speak with the Technology Specialist on call.
All extracurricular activities including spring sports, clubs, and other events are suspended until further notice.
All field trips are cancelled. Information concerning refunds for any monies paid for cancelled field trips will come from your child’s school.
Plans pertaining to prom with be forthcoming. Over the next couple of weeks, we will develop these plans and communicate them to students and parents.
Plans pertaining to end-of-the year ceremonies such as graduation, assemblies, as well as honors and awards programs will be forthcoming.
