National Junior Art Honor Society
After School Club
In 1989, the National Art Education Association began the National Junior Art Honor Society program to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art and to generate interest in art programs at the secondary level and beyond. Students inducted to the NJAHS must then be nominated for the NAHS when appropriate. Students become members of a distinguished group of over 58,000 NAHS/NJAHS art students. Students gain peer recognition, leadership growth opportunities, college and career preparation, and an unmatched sense of camaraderie.
What are the requirements:
-Students must maintain the Hawk Expectations.
-The NJAHS is for students who LOVE art, LOVE helping others and sharing their art with others, and who are RESPECTFUL AT ALL TIMES.
-Membership fee.

What do we do in NJAHS?
We use our art skills to make our school, our community, and our school a better place. We are usually making art for others in the NJAHS. In the past NJAHS have created art shows, help making the Chilly Challenge medals, art for the community, created art for nationwide excibits, mosaic stepping tones for the peace garden, clay bowls to sell to raise money for MANNA food bank, painted a mural in the River Arts District, and created gifts for the NBMS staff. We have visited the Asheville Art Museum and made art with elderly residents at the Brian Center.
How much does it cost?
Option 1 - $5, no T-shirt
Option 2 - $20 including T-shirt. Cash or check (made payable to NBMS) are accepted.
