Mrs/Sra. Caballero

Sra. Caballero & student at All BCS Art Show at the Asheville Mall.

Hello and Hola, I am Mrs. Caballero, the art teacher. It is also correct to call me Señora Caballero, because I am the Spanish teacher too. I have been the Art/Spanish teacher at NBMS since 2018. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. Like any good art teacher, I love to draw and paint, which also makes me a walking encyclopedia of stain removal techniques should you ever need any advice. And like a quirky Spanish teacher, I am fascinated by the etymology of words. What you might be surprised to learn is that I am also learning to read Hebrew, practice Martial Arts, enjoy baking cakes, banana bread, and muffins, and I’m into board games and puzzles, in between juggling my life with my husband, my son and our dog.

I have taught at the K-12 level (Spanish, Dual Language programs, and Visual Arts, in both middle and high school since 2003. I am passionate about helping my students learn, to use technology (a passion of mine), to be creative, and to acquire the tools they need to reach their goals in life. I have felt privileged to teach (in both English and Spanish) a broad spectrum of students with different learning styles, social and cultural backgrounds, covering a wide age range.

I believe that for students to be successful at school, we (teacher, student, and parents/caregivers) need to work as a team. Please feel free to contact me at any time with concerns or questions about your child’s Art/Spanish education. My hope is that your child will have the absolute best Art/Spanish class experience possible and gain new skills and confidence throughout the semester. If there’s anything specific I can do to help make this happen, please let me know.
