Wit and Wisdom

About the Curriculum Wit and Wisdom

Every text Wit & Wisdom students touch is authentic, high-quality, and chosen to meet students' social-emotional learning needs—no leveled books here! Students use these texts and culturally-rich artwork at every turn to learn—and eventually to master—essential reading and writing skills as well as new grammar and vocabulary. Students will be engaged in Socratic seminars to hone their listening and speaking skills. Along the way, students explore important topics such as the Great Depression and the Jazz Age, America's first permanent settlement, Jamestown, Ernest Shackleton's experience of exploring Antarctica, and Malala Yousafzai's account of Taliban-controlled Pakistan, her beloved home.

Tip Sheets for the Wit and Wisdom Modules

Students will need to have 1 composition notebook to be successful while completing the Wit and Wisdom Curriculum.

Students will also be getting their own novel that they will turn in at the end of the Module. Students will be responsible for replacing the novel if it becomes lost or damaged.

Below are tips for each Module that students will be taking part in throughout the year. Each week I will be updating parents on where we are in the curriculum and what students will be doing under the Newsletter Tab.
