Welcome to First Grade! This is an exciting year full of growth, discovery, and new adventures, and I'm honored to be part of your child's journey. First grade is a year when students become more confident readers, writers, mathematicians, and problem-solvers while continuing to grow socially and emotionally. In our classroom, we learn through engaging, hands-on experiences, collaboration, creativity, and plenty of encouragement. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and excited to learn each day. I can't wait to partner with your family to make this a wonderful and successful school year!

📚 What We're Learning

Phonics & Reading: We use Wit & Wisdom, Fundations, and UFLI to strengthen foundational reading skills. Students will build fluency, expand their vocabulary, develop reading comprehension, and become confident, independent readers.

Math: Students will deepen their understanding of number sense, addition and subtraction, place value, measurement, geometry, and problem-solving through hands-on activities, games, and real-world learning experiences.

Writing: First graders will grow as writers by composing complete sentences, organizing their ideas, and creating narrative, informational, and opinion pieces while continuing to strengthen handwriting and spelling skills.

Science & Social Studies: Students will investigate the world around them through engaging, inquiry-based lessons that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful connections to science and social studies concepts.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): We work every day to build a positive classroom community by practicing kindness, responsibility, perseverance, self-regulation, collaboration, and respectful problem-solving.
