Sixth Grade
Current Project: Time Capsules with Depth and Complexity
Due Date: Week of October 12
Materials Needed: shoebox (I have plenty but students are free to supply their own)
Overview: Students will brainstorm who they are using the Icons of Depth and Complexity as an introduction to the icons. They will use their brainstorming to curate a time capsule that represents who they are RIGHT NOW. They will open the time capsules at the end of 8th grade.
Seventh Grade
Current Project: Sixth Grade Survival Guide (slideshow)
Due Date: Week of October 12
Materials Needed: none
Overview: Students will reflect on their time in sixth grade and research adolescent issues to inform a slideshow presentation designed to help sixth graders transition to middle school.
Eighth Grade
Current Project: Making Water Safe
Due Date: Week of October 19
Materials needed: trifold board (you can send in $5 to purchase one from me) and 16-20 oz see-through plastic bottle (NOT Gatorade)
Overview: Students will research the issue of access to clean water. They will design, build, and test a water filter. Students will create a trifold display to showcase their research and their water bottle design process.
Battle of the Books will begin Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Students MUST have a Battle of the Books form turned in to Ms. Luke or me in order to stay for the meeting. We will meet Wednesdays from 3:20-4:30. Please be prompt picking up your student.
