The Healthful Living Department of Buncombe County Schools is excited to offer Bicycle Safety as part of our curriculum. We have two fleets of bikes that are transported to our schools for use during Physical Education classes. Students must bring in a signed permission form before being allowed to ride. Students are allowed to bring in their own helmet as long as it is certified safety approved.
US Olympian Silver Medalist, Lauren Tamayo helped us to kick off our Bicycle Safety Program at North Buncombe Elementary School.
CPR Graduation Requirement
NC House Bill 837 states that beginning with the 2014 school year, all students graduating in NC must be certified in Compression Only CPR. In order to meet this requirement, the Healthful Living and Career Tech programs are collaborating to teach these lifesaving skills.
Documentation of fulfilling this requirement will be placed on the students' transcript in Power School.
