Mr. Jones' Final Exam with Choice!

For their final exam, I developed 6 different exam formats that used the same content to measure a wide variety of skills and mastery targets.  They were given these formats well in advance and we explored their differences in class.  Then they were invited to choose the 3 formats that best "showed off their mastery of World History."  Here are the formats:

Format A - 40 questions, short answer

Format B - Super Concepts in Action!

Format C - Cause-Effect Relationships between Major Events

Format D - Iconic Images

Format E - Thematic Exploration

Format F - Reading Comprehension

So the blended part was their ability to select which formats best showcased their knowledge and mastery of skills.  I have attached these formats so that you can see in closer detail.

Here is my take-away as of now: 1) they responded well to having the option to choose... and 2) they seemed to like some of the format options better than others, especially the iconic images.  3) They have now been working quietly and diligently on this for over an hour... wow!  This is not a group that typically can focus for that long (standard 9th graders).  So, my preliminary results are good.  I will have a full report for you when Igrade the exams.
