Welcome to Enka High School Media Center

The Enka High School Media program in Buncombe County Schools (BCS) is an integral part of instructional programming. The media program and its resources are constantly evolving, creating globally competitive opportunities for all students.

Purpose:

To promote a collaborative learning community, both inside and outside the library walls, that engages students to read, explore, analyze, reflect, synthesize and create new ideas and information to adapt and contribute to a global society.

Direction:

Our students will become proficient readers, fluid in digital and information literacy, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity, to prepare them to be the innovative leaders of their future.

Core Beliefs:

Through the media center, EHS provides access to high quality authentic digital and print resources that are aligned with ISTE and  North Carolina State Standards.  These resources are used throughout schools to effectively integrate information and technology standards, promote student literacy, and facilitate collaborative learning environments. Media Coordinators and classroom teachers collaborate to create an innovative environment in which student learning is the focus.

EHS media center provides open, point of need access for students and teachers around the clock via Destiny Library Manager and other online resources.  Students have opportunities to create a wide variety of products and explore topics of interest within a flexible, literacy-based, inquiry-focused environment.
