Classroom Expectations
It is my intent to create a safe, nurturing, and fair learning environment. My classroom management plan is designed alongside our larger school-wide plan. Weaverville Elementary is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) School. This means that students are taught the expected behaviors for each area of the school AND you must follow these rules. Posters to remind you of the behaviors are posted throughout the school. When you demonstrate positive behaviors, you may be recognized with a ‘HAWKS’ High Five Report. A copy will go home, a copy will be sent to the office for our prize drawing, and a copy will be put in your Leadership Notebook. In addition, students that have followed the HAWKS Leadership Expectations can attend PBIS celebrations. Here are the Hawks Leadership Expectations:
H - Have Respect
A - Awesome Attitude
W - Willing Workers
K - Kind Kids
S - Successful Students
PBIS Classroom incentives
Earn stickers for individual incentive charts and choose from a list of rewards once complete (25 per chart). Charts will be turned in at the end of each month.
Our class can earn rewards as a whole with our class incentive chart as well! (extra computer time, board games, special snacks, fun activities...).

Other Information
Take-Home Folders
Your child will bring home a Take-Home folder each day. Please take the time to look over it each evening. It often contains important information and reminders, as well as student work. This is a way to transport paperwork and handwritten notes.
Communication
I would like to use email and weekly newsletters as our major communication. It is my goal to meet in person or via zoom at least twice this year for a conference regarding your student's progress. My email address is amy.fredenburg-clouse@bcsemail.org. Our school phone number is (828)645-3127.
Homework
Each evening, reading is required for 20 minutes and 10 minutes of multiplication practice. I will send more specific information about this expectation and homework in the coming weeks. The first few weeks in all about getting acclimated to our new rountines at school and home. I would like to ease students into this transition.
Stay Hydrated!
*I encourage students to drink plenty of water each day. Please bring a water bottle daily.
*We will enjoy a “working” snack. Your student is welcome to bring a snack, but it must be something healthy. Please do not bring drinks, other than water to enjoy in the classroom.
IMPORTANT: There are nut allergies around the school. Please be mindful of this.
*Students must wear shoes that are appropriate for physical activity each day (recess or PE). We will have PE on Tuesdays.
Be on Time
If your child is tardy, he or she must go by the office for an admit slip.
Transportation Changes
Please let me know of any changes in writing by email or a note. I am unable to take a student’s word for a transportation change. If something comes up unexpectedly, please call the office as early in the day as possible. Please checkout students prior to 2:00 if they have an appointment in the afternoon.
Absences
If absent, your child should return to school with a dated note stating the reason or the absence will be unexcused. You may also call the office if a student is going to be out sick for the day.
