Welcome to Mrs. Altman's class!

This is my 26th year teaching English in grades 8-12. I have been fortunate enough to teach in three different states including Nevada, Texas, and Illinois. I am a 1996 graduate of Western Illinois University with a BA in English and Secondary Education. I completed the course of study for Cognitive Systems and Instructional Design from University of North Texas in 2010 and earned my MS in Curriculum & Instructional Design through Western Governor's University in 2017. In addition, I am a certified trainer for the Laying the Foundation (NMSi) program. I have a wonderful husband, Steve, and two children, Christopher (20 - SIUe) and Grace (10 - GIS). One of my favorite things to do is plan international student travel! I've taken students on trips to Munich, Lucerne, Paris, London (2017!), and Italy in June of 2019 (Venice, Florence, Assissi, and ROME). Though we had to delay the most recent trip, the now 2023 trip will be a 9 day excursion to Italy & Greece. We ARE accepting enrollments! For more information, click the tab at the top of the page!
