Jazz Band

The Cavalier Jazz Band is made up of selected musicians in grades 9 through 12. The band plays jazz and contemporary music while learning to improvise and gain a knowledge of important and influential jazz musicians. This group performs in school concerts, community events, and at festivals. Jazz band students are members of the band program at Lord Botetourt High School. Jazz Band is a year-long course. Participation in the Jazz Bands is by audition/director recommendation. All members (except guitarist, pianists, and bassists) must be enrolled in a Concert Band class or have met performance requirements set by the director. Students will receive a letter grade for this course.
