Fourth Grade

Happy Last Day of School!  Have a great summer!

The leprechaun visited our classroom last night!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This week our grade level performed at the PTA meeting.  This performance highlighted the children's hard work to learn the recorder, hand drum, bass bars, and the glockenspiel.  Below are a few pictures from Tuesday evenings performance.  We also enjoyed building rovers with Mr. Painter from 4H to build on learning about our space unit.

Throughout this week, students visited the Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade classrooms to read books about winter.  Below are some of the photos from this fun experience.  There will be more added next week, too.  Enjoy!

On Tuesday, January 24th Mr. Chris from the Science Museum visited our grade level to teach us more about the solar system.  The kids had some great questions and curiousity during this presentation.  They pretended to be rovers and code one another to give directions about moving and picking up objects from the Earth to the Moon.  Did you know messages from Houston to space can take up to 20 minutes to arrive?  Students also investigated the impact of "meteors" using glass and plastic spheres.  It was a fun morning!

Be Brave--be bold--have perseverance

Friday, August 19th

This week we celebrated the 4th day of 4th grade!  Looking forward to the many more milestones of fourth grade!

Friday, August 12th

Today we played a new math game called "Watermelon Fight" to review multiplication math facts.  Your child will play this game often during math instruction.  Each student has a copy of this game in their green dragon folder to play at home.  It is not required that they play this game at home.  We also practice counting circles and a new number sense routine called "Mystery Number."  Enjoy the photos below from math today!

Fourth Grade

For the first few days of school we will be learning classroom rules and procedures.  We will get to know each other with some fun activities and focus on building relationships.  We will review some old third grade skills and start right in on our 4th grade curriculum.  These first few days and weeks can be a tough transition for adults and children.  Let's all give one another some grace as we get back into school routines.

The announcements page of this site will be updated each week for the following week's reminders.  An email with the class website link will be sent each Friday.  This website, email, and using the school's phone number will be the ways in which I communicate with families.  I do my best to respond to emails within 24 hours.  As we start the school year, please let me know if you have any questions.  I encourage all families to attend to upcoming PTA hosted Back to School Night to learn more about Greenfield Elementary and fourth grade.

Now, enjoy a few laughs below with some pictures from when I was a fourth grader!  HAHA!  I was in fourth grade in 1998-1999.  I went to Troutville Elementary, which is a hop, skip, and jump away from Greenfield.  My teacher was Mrs. Gluth.  She taught me how to use my time wisely (a saying your children will hear from me often) and to always persevere.  Enjoy and I am looking forward to a great year with you all!
