Hello Beechfield Family,
My name is Mr. Henderson and I am the Community Schools Site Specialist for Beechfield Elementary Middle School. Beechfield Elementary Middle School is one of the several Community Schools apart of Baltimore City Public Schools. A Community School is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. A Community School Site Specialist is the key to a community school. A good way to think about my job is to think of me as the "community organizer" of the school and community. I create, strengthen, and maintain the bridge between the school and community. I facilitate and provide leadership for the collaborative process and development of a continuum of services for children, families and community members within a school neighborhood.
This Community School Specialist page will serve as a platform of resources. These resources will provide information on:
Parent/Family Engagement
Community Engagement
Youth Development
Strategic Alignment: Deepening Partnerships and Academic Alignment
Partnerships: Health , Mental Health, Tutoring, After school programming, Mentoring, Early Childhood
