I started research in Papeopalynology as an undergraduate with Alfred Traverse at Penn State University - pictured here with Bill Chaloner circa 1980. In 1979 we published the first taxonomic paper on spore-like microfossils that later become known as cryptospores. This included the tetrad genus, Tetrahedraletes and the paired spores, or dyads, known as Dyadospora.
