Practicum Information
Elementary Education majors will complete two pre-practicum experiences and a full-practicum experience to ensure candidates become effective educators. The Lynch School partners with a range of urban and suburban public, private, parochial, and charter K-12 schools in Greater Boston, empowering students to gain experience in real classroom settings. Practicum Course Guidance
Pre-Practicum #1
EDUC 2039 Learning and Curriculum in the Elementary School is a pre-requisite for Pre-Practicum #1.
Can be taken spring of first year or fall of sophomore year.
EDUC 2101 Teaching Language Arts and EDUC 2104 Teaching Reading are the co-requisites for EDUC 2151 Pre-Practicum #1 and EDUC 2131 UG Inquiry Seminar #1.
Pre-Practicum #2
EDUC 2108 Teaching Mathematics and Technology is the co-requisite for EDUC 3152 Pre-Practicum #2 and EDUC 3132 UG Inquiry Seminar #2.
Full Practicum
EDUC 4250 Full Practicum (12 credits) is the co-requisite for EDUC 4231 Senior Inquiry Seminar (3 credits).
All EDUC courses must be complete prior to beginning the full practicum.
Minimum GPA of 2.5 required.
