GENERAL:
Each student will participate in the production of a short Podcast presentation in German.
Students will work on this presentation in groups of either two or three persons.
The actual taping will be done outside of class, and the final produced podcast will be played during class.
GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTATIONS:
TOPICS: You may choose any topic you wish from the reading assignments of either the first or the second semester of Intermediate German. Possible themes might include: cultural items in the book, previously assigned essay topics, a particular scene from one of the readings, an encounter between two or more characters from different stories. You may NOT write about a group of students doing a Podcast.
LANGUAGE: Because the rest of the class will be viewing your skit, it is absolutely imperative that you restrict yourself to German that will be immediately understandable to others in the class. Make every effort to employ active vocabulary (from the vocabulary lists). At any rate, keep it simple!! And, of course, you should make only the very most sparing use of a dictionary!
LENGTH: Each presentation should be a maximum of five minutes in length. Prior to the taping, you should time the skit to make sure that it does not deviate significantly from this five-minute time requirement. Each students should have equal speaking time.
SCRIPT: You should have a full, word-for-word text of the presentation written out well in advance. This script should be checked over repeatedly by each individual member of the group, so as to minimize grammatical errors. If you wish, you may consult with the instructor as well. Then the script should be rehearsed thoroughly prior to taping.
EXTRAS: So as to make your presentation as lively, humorous and entertaining as possible, you should make full use of sound effects, introductory music, commercial breaks, to make it as professional as you can.
