Eagles Sustainability Competition

March 22, 2024

A partnership between The Schiller Institute, UGBC Environmental and Sustainability Division, Carroll School of Management, and Winston Center for Leadership and Ethics

Giving students a chance to tackle sustainability.

In interdisciplinary teams of 2-3 members, craft innovative recommendations to address the environmental impact of Boston College Dining. The winning idea will incorporate campus data, solid research, different method of analyses, and creativity to bring a fresh perspective to how BC Dining can reduce its environmental footprint and enhance its overall sustainability. The winning team will receive a cash prize of $3,000 and the opportunity to have its proposed ideas implemented.

Choose your interdisciplinary team of 2-3 students. It is required that at least 2 different majors/concentrations must be represented on the team.
Collaborate with your team to answer the prompt's question addressing stakeholder, economic, and ethical considerations as well as engagement with the student body. Outside research and engagement with BC’s offices and resources are encouraged.
Present your recommendation to a panel of judges who will be relevant faculty and experts in BC Dining and sustainability.

The Eagles Sustainability Case Competition seeks to bring students from different academic backgrounds together in an effort to serve our community and earth.

Students learn something new on campus every day. The Sustainability Competition offers you a chance to translate knowledge into action in a rewarding way. Over the course of five weeks, your team will leverage subject-area research, campus data, and its unique skills to solve a pressing sustainability issue at Boston College.
