Teaching Calculus in tumultuous times: Since 2021 [subterfuge and skullduggery] have appeared online regarding my teaching of Calculus. I think the tenor of the accusations are so extremely venomous that they are self-defeating in their purpose of malicious intent. (However, I must say the fact that it is repeatedly pointed out that I am a nice guy is a mark of special sophistication in those behind these posts.)

For the record, the last time I taught Calculus I had 71 students. Here is the [Final Exam]: the median was 166/200 (83%), the mean was 160/200 (80%).

One of my Calculus students told me while visiting my office at the end of the semester that, "I never worked so hard for anything before in my life."  I congratulated him. Although I don't think he was thanking me, I was glad that he felt comfortable enough to share with me. ---I trust what he learned about Calculus (and himself) will serve him well. I am going to go on teaching and training folk, and that is the truth, Ruth

[Pre 2020] Undergraduate Courses I have been an instructor for many courses in the introductory mathematics major at several different institutions. While at the University of Michigan I taught: Math 115 (Calculus I), Math 116 (Calculus II), Math 214 (Applied Linear Algebra for Engineers), and Math 217 (Linear Algebra with Proof for Math Majors.) The curricular design of all of the courses at Michigan, except Math 214, were IBL (inquiry-based-learning) models. While at the University of Maryland College Park, in addition to teaching the Calculus sequence, I was a co-instructor for Math 431 (Geometry for Computer Graphics). At Howard University I taught Basic Algebra through the Calculus sequence.
