In the case of both virtual and live, each panel has reps from different firms. The focus is on helping students understand the specific functions of those business lines, keep the jargon to a minimum and keep in mind the target audience is sophomores who have not had Basic Finance yet. There will be talking points posed by the moderator then a Q&A. Virtual Q&A via chat, live via Poll everywhere to keep it anonymous so students are comfortable asking any questions
Virtual panels will be moderated by one of either the CSOM or Career Center Team members. You will receive your confirmation /zoom link from the moderator of that panel along with the talking points ahead of time.
Thursdays live panels will be preceded by a Banking 101 Session which will give a very basic overview of the industry and the different functions within the bank.
We recommend that the panelists arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the panel, they should go directly to the classroom as there is no central registration area. The moderator will be in the classroom. Campus map is attached and linked here.
Do not bring additional representatives to the panel. If you need to switch out who you send because of staffing issues that is fine. Please pay attention to including some diversity in the reps you send. If you are making great efforts to attract more women and diverse candidates, your representatives should reflect that as much as possible.
Our goal is to create a purely educational panel where students do not feel intimidated to attend. If there is networking, some will hesitate to go. We are trying to diversify the student population that should be considering careers at banks and if the networking occurs, only the students who are already prepared for careers in banks will feel comfortable going.
There is no dress code for any of the panels. We encourage students to be comfortable, and our panelists can do the same although we realize many of you are coming from work. We are encouraging business casual for the Friday networking event.
Parking is available in either garages or on Beacon St. We will validate parking for the garages.
Boston College has a vaccine mandate for all staff, students and visitors. You must be fully vaccinated to attend. Masking is optional at this point, although if you feel more comfortable we encourage you to mask.
